As we thread the needle of the storm (Sandy), we re-routed our Atlanta to Washington D.C. road trip through Richmond, Virginia. And smack dab in the middle of Shockoe Slip (Richmond’s version of NYC’s meat packing district – check out Tin Ceilings in New York City) we wandered upon Sam Miller’s, best known for its crab cakes. And from now on will also be known for its decorative ceilings.
Over the years we have urged you to look up and check out the all important fifth wall — the ceiling. Today, we took our own advice and immediately reached for the camera. Yes, we were delighted with this restaurant’s use of a tile similar to 148 matte white faux tin ceiling tiles. The tiles not only add dimension to the ceiling, they make a lasting, positive impression on your customers – at least they did on this customer! To us the use of ceiling tiles spoke volumes about the restaurant – it said they had paid attention to every detail of their guest’s experience and convinced us to give the food a try. We had already walked into and out of a half a dozen restaurants – checking out the ambiance. This time we asked to be seated and were glad we did.
